2018 Chili Contest and Registration


Once again on Saturday January 27, 2018 downtown Mount Holly will be the place for families to warm their tummies and see lots of artistic eye candy while having plenty of free family-friendly fun.

Besides playing host to over a dozen professional and amateur ice carvers from up and down the east coast, the Fire & Ice Festival features the best professional chili cooks around vying for the Award for the finest chili in Burlington County.

Note:  You must be a restaurant, caterer or church or community group with a commercial kitchen in order to participate.

Deadline to enter is Wednesday, January 17th so we can adequately plan for all those who choose to participate.


  • Everyone will be housed at The Union (formerly the Firehouse Café) at 20 Washington Street.
  • In addition to the Peoples Choice awards, we will have judges.
  • There will be a nominal $1 a person charge to the public for tasting the chili.  This will help us to cover award money for the contest.

Set-up will be at 9:30 am.

Judges will arrive at 11am to taste and judge the chili.

The general public will be admitted starting at Noon.  Usually the chili is all gone by 2pm.

What we provide:                

  • Table and two chairs
  • Tasting cups (4oz.) & spoons.
  • Identifying Signage.
  • Trash receptacle and liners.
  • Promotional materials in advance of the event to encourage your patrons to visit and vote.
  • Recognition on the Fire & Ice Website as a competitor (with link to your website) and mention on Facebook and through email promotions.
  • $250 First Prize for Best Chili, Chili Cauldron Trophy and bragging rights for 2018 as the winner of the contest.  $100 prize for most creative presentation and $100 for Peoples Choice Award.

 What we ask that you provide:

  • Method of keeping Chili hot to food-safe temperatures.
  • 4-5 gallons of chili.
  • Promotion of the event in your restaurant, website and Facebook page leading up the event to encourage your patrons to come out, enjoy the festival and VOTE for you!
  • We will allow entrants to bring their chili packaged to sell at their tasting station.
  • It is not required, but we encourage you to decorate your table!
